Willy Nilly Friday~'The moving on out' version

1) Linds moved into her dorm on Wednesday; Lolo was here to help as did the Coach. Her dorm is on the third floor; not an elevator in sight and it took several trips up and down with her belongings.
I was in hamstring hell come Thursday.

2) Linds was thrilled to have a full kitchen. Although the conventional stove threw her for a loop.
She has only had a glass top stove at her disposal.
"Mom, how do you turn on the burners?"
Me: "You use this knob to turn on this burner and …..
Linds: "Wait! IS FIRE going to come out of that?"

Laughter from Lolo and I ensued.

3) She may not have mad culinary skills, but she can set a mean table.
Perhaps that wasn't the best example.

4) She wasn't completely moved in when I finally left. BUT, her room most likely won't be any neater than this. ever.

5) Even though she has a full kitchen at her disposal, she still likes the simplicity of sodium.
gag me with a spoon.

I hope she has a wonderful year.
I also hope she doesn't get arrested, pregnant or any face tattoos.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Around Roanoke

  1. I think Nadia might be related to her. ;-) She LOVES Ramen (like you said, gag me with a spoon) and her rooms kinda looks like that, too. I hope Linds has a great year!!

  2. Wishing Linds lots of good times. My childhood friend, Amy, that I attended college with is visiting tomorrow. We usually drive by the college (Cleveland GA) and reminisce. Those were happy, care free times.

  3. Ramen! The favorite food of college students everywhere! Every once in a while, I like to relive those days and have a pack. :D

  4. oh, you summed it all up... :D

  5. Well ... everything looks in order for a college student! :-)

  6. I remember well those moving in days. Trying to lug all that stuff up the stairs along with everyone else.

  7. UGH! Ramen! I didn't even like that in college. Can't imagine wanting to eat that now!

  8. I would have died to have a kitchen in my dorm. But then again, I probably would have wound up cooking for everyone and flunked out of school.

  9. Ahhhh---I remember many moons ago when my parents took me to college.. Our car was pack-jammed-full ---and that was before computers. I did take my 'stereo' and 'records/albums' with me.... I was also WAY up on the 3rd floor --with no elevator... NO AirConditioning also!!!!! Gads--how did I make it?????

Funny about the conventional stove.... That's the only kind I have EVER had and still have... NO---one time we did have a glass top stove which I loved... AND--when this stove dies, we'll probably get a glass topped one (which is easier to clean for sure)....

Linds will do great ---and luckily, she is not far from home when she NEEDS something!!!!! ha

    Have a great weekend.

  10. Ramen Noodles....a college staple!

  11. I'm pretty sure she won't get a face tattoo, lol.

  12. Oh my...face tattoos....congrats on your youngest starting college! How is your older doing in college too?

    1. Gary, Lolo loves college. She starts her third year next week and is looking into graduate schools as well!

    2. What am I saying? She is starting her senior year!!!!

  13. Any kind of stove should do, when one's staple of life is Ramen noodles!

  14. This must feel hard even though it's so excited!

I, too, love the simplicity of sodium!

    Sending you a hug sweetie!

Darn if time just doesn't fly through the good parts too fast!

  15. Oh, I feel like I'm watching a re-run of moving Amanda into her Sorority House back on July 31! Oh, the stairs, and not an elevator in sight! Does Linds have a little kitchen IN her room?? WOW, how cool! I would like to move into Amanda's Sorority House because they have meals prepared every day in the dining room and somebody else cleans the bathrooms!!!
So, Suz, Here we as semi-empty nesters...they're not FAR away, but they're not just down the hall, either. I've controlled the urge to txt every hour...once in the evening to wish her sweet dreams works out, 'cause she txts the same back to me. I just thought of these song lyrics "Hold on loosely (mom!), but don't let go."

  16. The no elevators brings back memories for me! My 1st year at res had me on the third floor with no elevator, but my room didn't have a fancy shmancy kitchen!! Hope she enjoys her home away from home!

  17. aw how are you feeling mama? ash leaves tomorrow :( she'll be about an hour and a half away. she's sharing an apt with 3 other girls and she went up one day last week with a car full of stuff already. she's has just a bit left to take up. we'll go up and see her once she's settled. she has some orientation this weekend and classes start monday...who said these girls can grow up?!! oh, ash has the same culinary style ;)

  18. Oh, the "college room look" in decor. It has followed David home...ooohhh nooooo! I think I will just shut his door every time he leaves. =)

  19. Oh my goodness! laughed out loud... And yes to the bagged salt. Gross. Two of my kids love it. I don't get it.

  20. Just dropped my last kid to begin her last year at university. I have lived this post.
