The Cutest Easter Story. (that I have)

This is a story my Mom told me recently, so I can’t verify if she made it up to get onto the blog or not.

I only wish I could reenact it for you in person.

I can reenact the stoned-like face above. Maybe. But I could never, ever again pull off a short skirt like that again.

This incident happened Easter morning when I was about 4 or 5.

I was so excited when I awoke to find a huge basket full of goodies. (Apparently rocks and dirt were my favorite gifts until this point)

I checked out my basket of goodies, then I ran out the front door of our house, heading down the street to my friend Kim’s house. I needed to share the news with her.

I ran down the sidewalk (only 6 houses) and I was shouting:

One of the homes between mine and Kim’s was our Ministers house.

He witnessed my excitement firsthand.

And wouldn’t you know it, when we attended church later that morning, I became part of his sermon.

He thought I was screaming for joy because of Jesus…but at that age, it was all about the Easter Bunny!

As I grew older I learned the truth about Easter. About Jesus.

But I don’t think our Minister ever learned the truth about me.

Bless his heart….

Happy Easter!

  1. that is funny... whether your mom made it up or not :) and i just betcha that your minister knew. but sometimes you gotta embelish the story to make it really good. now that i think of it, your mom coulda done better if she was making it up. like add in a big dragon that was chasing you down the street... or a bear.
love you! happy easter! hope that easter bunny comes again!

  2. What a great story! Did the cat get into the goodies, 'cause it looks like maybe it's getting into something! :D
    Have a Blessed, Holy Easter!

  3. I once read that when a true southerner says, "Bless his heart", it's going to be followed with a gentle and veiled insult.

The story was VERY cute. I don't imagine your mom made it up.

Bless the minister's heart if he REALLY thought a little 4 or 5 year old kid would be THAT excited about Jesus on Easter morning.

I'm sure some would, but they would be more of the 'don't receive Easter baskets' persuasion.

You're always a hoot for me!!

  4. That is a cute memory and I adore the photo! Hope you all have a Happy Easter.

  5. That is so funny! Hope you have lots of yummies in your basket and a wonderful weekend.

Yes, He did come! Happy Easter, my friend!

  6. I love your brother's wide white belt and shoes. I remember when boys and men wore those...and leisure suits.

That story is hysterical! But I have to tell you, for a split second I envisioned you saying that about Coach.

Ok, now you can delete my comment.

    Happy Easter!

  7. That picture is too cute! And, you could SO pull off a skirt like that now. As a matter of fact, I think you should wear it to church tomorrow, and see if the minister remembers you. ;-)

  8. Hey Suz...
Been a slug at keeping up with blogs i went a few posts back and laughed at your funny humor. Love that you let Baby go play. She looks like she's having fun. Not too sure about the *boat*, you'll have to tell about that. And the nails and picture of G'ma is a hoot! Good for you being the daughter to your Uncle.

This post? Would Mama's ever tell fibs? that picture and the Minister..bless his heart (o:

Have a great Easter and I'll be back for the story..

  9. AWWWWWWWWWWW, i bet this really did happen and how cute are you and yo bro in that picture...

again, AWWWWWWWWWW. i can just picture you doing this!

and it doesnt matter that you were referring to the easter bunny, at that age, to a lil kid, god is whoever brings the goods!

and for the minister? bless his little bunny hoppin' heart!

    have a great one..

  10. great story! and cute photo, hope you have a great Easter.

  11. Oh what a sweet story, Suz.... I'm glad you shared it. AND---I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter. I'm sure that Grandma will be there with you--in spirit...

  12. OK, Grandma J--that was just unnecessary!

  13. How stinkin' sweet!

Apparently when I was little we went to the easter play. I was so little that I stood up in the pew and screamed "DONT KILL MY JESUS! DONT YOU KILL MY JESUS!!!" it made everyone cry harder!

  14. This story is SO great. I don't think your Mom made it up. I don't think she should have to make up stories to get on the blog. You tell her that you will put ANY stories she wants on the blog at ANY time... : ) Do you hear me?

I hope you have a wonderful Easter. It is a special day to celebrate Jesus, isn't it? : )

I hope the pastor is still preaching it in his sermons.

  15. I'd like to think that your mother did not make it up, but it's cute even if she did. Have a very Happy Easter.

  16. So sweet Suz. Hoppy Easter...and give your Mom a hug for me!

  17. That is the sweetest Easter story ever.

And what that minister didn't know didn't hurt him. ;-)

  18. This is the greatest story ever told.
well.... maybe the second greatest. :)
Easter Blessings to you and yours Buzy Bee!

  19. What a great Easter story! It's a good thing that you didn't stand up and correct the preacher's sermon.

    Happy Easter.

  20. That minister sure was best-case-scenario, wasn't he? I'm pretty sure I'd assume a 6 year old wasn't talking about the easter bunny.

    Cute story! And picture!

  21. You are definitely the hostess with the mostest! But, there's a lot to be said about being a guest.
Oh no, it's hot in Florida already? I'm heading there next month and I'm hoping that living in TX for a few years has acclimated me to humidity.

Why didn't you all just jump in the pool and cool off?

If I were you I'd just mow the weeds!

  22. Sooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuute!

(( hugs )) and happy belated Easter!
