Enjoying the Bounty of my Harvest

And by spouting the terms ‘bounty’ and 'harvest'..

I am surely exaggerating.

Are dairy cows sold on Craigslist?

  1. My first thought was actually bruschetta. YUM!!! The salad looks yummy, too. :)

  2. Hey Suze,
    I love fresh mozzarella!Yummy!
    That looks so good.....

  3. ooo... delicious! that is my favorite salad. i'm sure you have room in that backyard to start makin' cheese! i could help... but i'm not touching the cows :)

  4. That is an awesome looking salad. Nothing smells better to me than fresh basil.

I can see your dogs now with a cow!!!

  5. I'm proud of you for having your own garden.. I'm sure there might be a farmer out there who would give you one of his or her cows!!!! Ya think your Boxers would approve?????? ha

    Salad looks delicious.

  6. You're still harvesting in February? People don't do that here, and we're in Southern California!

    That salad looks amazing.

  7. Your tomatoes look yummy! Kudos for becoming the Green Grocer of South Florida.
For me it's in Jack cheese not Jack in the Box. Which cows produce Mozzarella, and which ones produce Jack!

  8. Oooh, that salad! YUMMY! Good work on the harvest, Lady Bountiful. I have a brown thumb, so I am all admiration.

  9. Love home grown maters! So yummy even right off the vine. So jealous of your weather.. although I know I might not be in July. : )

  10. We eat with our eyes first, and that plate is art. I can smell the basil, infusing that delicious cheese. Mmmmmm.

I'm going to try my hand at heirloom maters this year. Wish me luck.

You can take part in a co-op out here for things like fresh milk and its products. Maybe you can do that in FL?

Now I want me some insalate caprese. Do you speak Italian? I love saying it in Italian.

Looks like you're having a great weekend, wahoo!

  11. My absolute favorite salad that the Chef makes all the time. I first had it at least 20 years ago in Key West. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

  12. It is ten degrees below zero in upstate NY. I am a little jealous of you, growing tomatos. That is all :)

  13. One of my favorite salads ever! I can imagine fresh it is delish!

  14. If anyone can figure out how to make Mozzarella cheese at home, it will be you. I think you're justified in using the words 'bounty' and 'harvest'. Doesn't home-grown help make everything taste better?

  15. The bounty and the salad look delicious. I'll bet Utah sells dairy cows on Craigslist. The problem with a milk cow is having to milk it twice a day. And the cheese making process would take awhile, too. I think I'll keep buying my cheese at the grocery store...

  16. yumm-o! I just recently found the joys of tomatoes/onions/green peppers. I snubbed veggies until I had boog. I wanted to make sure that he didn't dislike things just because I do.. so now we eat them all! I LOVE THEM! I cant get enough! I made "Breakfast burritos" this morning. Its red patatoes green peppers and onions! (that you put on a taco shell with ground italian sausage) SO good!

P.s. i've been a terrible commenter, but just got caught up with your blog. I love when you shoot pictures around your house! Your lights look fabulous! Spray paint rocks!

  17. Great, you went and made me slobber all over my shirt. *mutter*

I may have mentioned this before but I want your house. Seriously. I'd even be your dairy cow if I could live in your solarium.

  18. Man, that looks so good! Like a picture of summer!

  19. Awesome maters! And that caprese salad looked scrumptious!

    You're making me hungry.

  20. That looks delicious! And your 'maters are really coming along. Have you sacrificed any to make fried green tomatoes?

  21. Mozzarella is traditionally produced solely from the milk of the domestic water buffalo.
    Good luck with that!

  22. Can you feel my envy all the way there? We are growing some basil inside right now which we love but cannot wait until we have fresh veggies from the garden. Made roasted tomato and pepper soup darn good but would be so much better with tomatoes from my garden. Believe me Suz, you do NOT want a cow. :) Except maybe one cow wouldn't be so bad. :)
