Some days are just better than others.

Blah. Blah. Yech. This is how I feel. I may have mentioned that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I do. So much so, that I need to put sunscreen on it in the summer and I make a little baby sweater for it in the winter. Heart shaped of course.

Right now, my heart is hurting.

My beloved Grandma is in the hospital. She has been there since Saturday morning.

I have blogged about this funny woman many times. She is 96. This is her FIRST hospital visit since giving birth…66 years ago. amazing right? yep, she is amazing.

I won’t go into details, too much to discuss. I am praying that she is better, or she can be at peace.

Right now, she is very uncomfortable and not herself.

She is irritated that she does not know what is going on with the Marlins baseball right now. And about those Miami Dolphins? What was that game about last week? HUH? These are the things she said to the Venezuelan male nurse on Sunday. He had no idea about either.

On Tuesday, she said not much except how much pain she was in.

I wish I was closer. It is an hour and a half each way to see her. I will try and go again tomorrow.

If you never read about the old woman, here are a few links to past posts. She will make you laugh. She has always made me laugh. She has never, ever made me cry.

When I was visiting her on Sunday, she said to me: “don’t cry for me, we have had some good times.” She made it sound like we were breaking up. I don’t like break ups.

Recently, she accused ME of Being a pervert! Yep, she has some nerve…considering

Last Easter she told me many things, one of them is that I am acquiring a BIG BUTT.

Then there was the other time she insulted the minister on Easter Sunday. In a nice way of course.

She is one in a million!

g'ma!

G’ma and I on her 90th birthday. Yep, it was a surprise party too. How hard is it to surprise a 90 year old? Not very hard at all.

Oh BB, I am so sorry to hear this... it's never easy to see a loved one suffer and specially since you don't know the outcome at such a fragile age.

I will pray for her safe return home so you can have many more surprise birthdays parties for her, between the days of happiness, love and joy of life.

Be strong for her.

(( hugs ))

I am so very sorry. Your posts about your grandma have always made me laugh and then they've made me a little jealous. Thanks for sharing her with us, and know that she is in my prayers as of right now.

Oh Suzanne, I am sorry that your Grandmother is ill. I pray that she'll be okay.. It always scares me when they get sick at THAT age. Dad Adams (97) does not want to end up in the hospital.. He just wants to die at home. I can only pray and hope for the BEST for both of them.

I know this is hard for you because you can't FIX it. I'd be the same way. Please keep us posted about your wonderful Grandmother. She's quite a woman!!!!

Hugs and Prayers,
Betsy

I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. It is difficult to see a grandma in so much pain. My grandmother was the backbone of the family when she passed away 4 years ago. They add so much to our lives and the lessons we learn from them helps to shape our lives. I am praying for you and your family. My prayers are with your grandma.

Dear Suz, I am so sorry. If I lived closer, I would drive you there, or do your chores for you so that you could go. I would even use cloth rags, instead of paper towels - I promise!

You have done a wonderful job of explaining how much this sweet and loving lady means in your life. She is a beacon of light for you, and has given you much in the way of unconditional love, honesty, resilience and humor. I pray that she will get better and be relieved of pain. I pray that you and your entire family will have peace, strength and comfort as you care for her. And I hope she will get a TV in her room that will have all of the sports channels she wants! Many hugs to you, dear friend. XOXO

i am so sorry for your pain, i have read about your silly grandma and the light switch!! i told you before and you need to make sure she leaves it to you in her will!! that woman does not want to be in a hospital, remember that most, she is strong willed and has her wits about her, i am so grateful for her good health that she has been here for you for so long, if there is anything you want to say to her be sure and write it down so you don't forget and make sure she knows how much you love her. take care sweetie, i am hoping for the best for you and your sweet family. you really have been blessed with a great woman here, think of the stories you are going to pass on for years!!

Oh Suz, I wish there was something I could do to ease her pain and yours. We are never ready to let go of our grandmas. When mine died (on Christmas eve no less)at the age of 92, everyone said she had lived a long life...but for me it wasn't long enough.

I will pray for God's will, that He take away your sweet grandma's pain and for Him to comfort you and your family as you endure all these emotions. Oh and tell her she has lots of prayers coming her way, and some extra ones for the Dolphins and Marlins too.

(((((hugs)))) my friend.

Oh sweetie, so sorry to hear that your grandma is in the hospital. With her good sense of humor she would enjoy your post too.

(I think I'm with you as far as the sunscreen and little sweater on my heart...that must be part of being comediennes, right?)

Will keep your G-ma's peace in my prayers. Chin up.

Wishing your grandmother peace and you serenity. I can see a family resemblance. Visit her as much as possible now, you will be beneficial to you when she is gone, you will be grateful that you had the opportunity to spend this time with her.

I lost my grandmother a year ago June and it was difficult because she also raised me.

Your both in my prays

I'll have to go back and read some of your posts about her. I know this is hard! I love the way you phrased feeling like she was breaking up with you... adorable. I was blessed to have two special grandmothers in my life - truly, it can be one of the most special relationships. (one of them was a savage Atlanta Braves fan) I still miss them every day. Thoughts and prayers are with you!

Best wishes and good thoughts for your grandmother. When you get there for a visit, have a chat with the nurses and doctors about the pain. This is 2009 and pain relief has become state of the art. Make certain they are doing enough!
